Replacing Astra Roof Hose

A common problem with the TS Astra Convertible is Replacing a roof hose along with roof oil.

The original roof hose last around 10 years where one or two hoses generally need replacing.

There a ten hose in the Astra convertibles where only six hoses that fail or need to be replaced. Replacing all ten hoses is basically a waste of money and the only time the team at ALNo have replace Astra convertible Hydraluic hoses is when the client has asked for ten hoses to be relaced.

The best way to check the health of an Astra convertible roof is by timing the roof to open and close. A roof starting to taken longer to either open or close is the first sign that components in the mechanical system will soon need to be replaced

Astra Convertible Roof Hose

Alno Product Services offer a range of Hydraluic Roof Hose For the Astra Convertibles

Why do some Astras blow one hose and others blow 5 or 6 hoses ?

Could it be the Hydraluic oil used in the Hydraluic system

In many cases the risk of blowing another hose is reduced by using the Genuine hydraluic oil as the Astra Convertilbe Hydraluic system has cross sectional areas of fluid flow that is are far lower than other convertible roof systems.

There for the pressure build up is far greater and that is why if you use a generic oil or oil specified for a different roof system there is a far greater chance of another hose blowing.

In terms of pressure build up the ALNO Hydraluic Oil used in the Astra converible

Alno Offer A Hydraluic Oil that reduces pressure build in areas of lower cross sectional area.

Is it true that The TS Astra only 6 Hoses blow yet there are 10 Hoses in the System

Yes if you are replacing a set of Hoses you will only need to replace 6 hoses, as replacing 10 hoses is a waiste of time and money

Astra Roof Hose

TS Astra Convertible Roof systems use engineering principles of liquid or fluid power

These Principles are traditionally found in machinery and in tools to perform simple work.

The simple work in the TS Astra case is the opening and closing for the soft top roof system.

In this application hydraulic fluid transmitted throughout the roof system from three hydraulic motors which activate hydraulic cylinders.

This opening and closing process is controlled by two roof controllers
which receive information from a number of sensors.

The system is started by the release of fluid release through one of three valves.

From time to time TS Astra Convertible Hydraulic hoses fail in many cases hose failure is due to the fatigue or aging of the hose

In the TS Astra convertibles this occurs when the car is  8 – 10 years old.

It is possible to patch up the hose but this generally results of splitting at another point in the same hose.

We believe replacing the complete hose will resut in at lease another 8 – 10 years of use at a minimum

Astra Convertible Roof Hoses

Astra Convertible Roof Hoses

ALNO offer both Astra convertible roof oil and roof hoses

The life cycle of the Roof Hoses offered by ALNO that will certainly outlast the life of genuine hoses and one could argue potentially the life of the vehicle.

Yet using the wrong oil or oil at the wrong velocity will certainly shorten the life of your pump and or pump motor.

Installing the high pressure hoses therefore places additional pressure on other areas in the hydraulic system.

we have been asked if ISO VG22 is suited to the Astra convertible roof oil as it is specified for use in other convertibles well no it is the wrong viscosity not really suited to the Australian climate.

We have recently replaced new pump and motor for a client based in Tasmania the ISO VG22 was design for hydraulic systems found on earth moving equipment with much larger bores or piston diameters in comparison to those found in Astra convertibles
